First Forest Outventures
Outdoor Skills for Everyone – Inclusive, Supportive, Empowering

About First Forest Outventures
I grew up camping with family and attending youth camps, and as I got older the outdoors became a more regular hobby. I worked at Summer camps through high school and college, receiving formal training in a wide variety of outdoor activities. Few of my college friends were outdoorsy, and as my love of the outdoors grew I often found myself convincing friends to join me on camping trips and hikes. That’s how I started taking friends without any outdoors experience on their first hikes, camping, and backpacking experiences. My passion for nature sparked the same in many of those friends, and some are avid outdoors enthusiasts today.
I created First Forest Outventures to support adults who may not have been exposed to the outdoors in youth for whatever reason. We provide accessible, skills-based instruction in a supportive and inclusive environment and recognize that many adults lack early exposure to outdoor recreation or have felt excluded from conventional outdoor culture—especially in underrepresented communities. Our mission is to create a welcoming space where everyone can develop confidence, competence, and connection with nature. Our classes offer education that prioritizes safety, stewardship, skills building, and belonging.
